A Human’s Perspective of the Mermaids
There are moments in regression work that stay with you long after the session has ended. Not because of grand kingdoms, dramatic events, or even the healing that takes place, but because of the simple purity of a connection.
In this lifetime, a young woman’s story unfolded against the backdrop of a coastal kingdom. While much of her life would be marked by loneliness, expectations, betrayal, and loss, there was one place where she felt completely at peace.
A river that met the sea, and the mermaids who lived there.
What emerged was not a tale of fantasy, but a deeply moving story of friendship, belonging, and a connection so profound that it remained in her heart until the very end of her life.
The River Where Happiness Lived
A river wound its way through dense jungle before meeting the sea. It was here that she spent much of her time, drawn not to court life or the responsibilities that came with her position, but to the mermaids who gathered in the waters near the river’s edge.
M: Describe this beautiful place for me.
C: It’s like a jungle with a river, where the river comes to an end, like a river bed where there are mermaids.
M: Describe what they look like.
C: Bluish skin, like a greyish blue. I sense they’re feminine… the way they move is feminine.
M: What else do you notice about these beautiful mermaids?
C: They’re happy.
As the client explored the scene further, she realised she was not a mermaid herself, but a young human woman.
Dressed in flowing purple fabric adorned with gold jewellery, she appeared to come from a family of importance. Yet despite her position, what drew her most was not status or responsibility. It was the water, and the companions she found there.
Friendship Beyond Words
When asked why she had come to this place, her answer was immediate.
M: What are you doing here?
C: I came to play with the mermaids.
M: Tell me more about that.
C: Well they are so happy and I am so happy, happy to see each other.
M: How do you play with them?
C: It’s like they talk with the frequency, like they are making sounds and I understand them.
M: What do they say?
C: Just like so happy to see you, just normal conversation.
The communication was not through spoken language but through frequency and understanding. There were no profound teachings or mystical revelations…. Simply friendship….The joy of being together…..The joy of being understood.
For the young woman, the mermaids represented something she struggled to find elsewhere in her life: acceptance, connection, and peace.
An Escape From a Life of Expectations
As the story unfolded, another side of her life began to emerge.
Born into a family of influence and status, she carried expectations from an early age. Yet while others focused on duty, power and position, she sought something far simpler—peace, freedom and companionship. Her father appeared to be a king or ruler, and with that came expectations from those around her.
C: People want me to do things and expect things of me. I just want to go and play with the mermaids. I know that this is my escape.
The river became a sanctuary. A place where she could leave behind the demands of court life and simply be herself.
While others sought power and influence, she sought peace. Yet beneath her privileged position was a deeper sadness.
The client described living in a cold stone room that never felt like home. Despite her status, she felt isolated and unseen.
C: It doesn’t feel comfortable. Like I’m put here. I don’t want to be here.
M: Why?
C: Like I’m not wanted here.
The feelings of not belonging and not being valued would become important themes later in the session.
The Kingdom Begins to Change
As the years passed, she encountered an older man who appeared friendly on the surface but carried hidden motives.
C: Acting like he cares about me being alone but he doesn’t.
M: What does he want?
C: Something that will get him ahead.
The client sensed political manipulation unfolding around her. She became aware that her father had become distracted by a new marriage and family while dangerous individuals gained influence within the kingdom.
C: I could see everything because I used to just watch and listen, but they didn’t listen to me.
M: Did you try to tell your father?
C: I feel like I would have warned him, but he just didn’t care.
Again and again the same wound surfaced….
Not being heard….Not being protected….Not being taken seriously.
The Day the Mermaids Disappeared
The next significant scene brought the client many decades later, where she stood upon a dark shoreline of black sand and grey waters. The vibrant world of her youth had faded, and the mermaids who had once filled the river with laughter were gone. The atmosphere felt heavy and sorrowful.
M: Why are you feeling sad?
C: Maybe I miss the mermaids.
M: Tell me more.
C: They’re like my friends. They’ve gone now. (client said crying)
As she explored further, she sensed something devastating had happened long ago.
C: Something to do with whoever was in power. They killed the mermaids or drove them away or something. I only remember one mermaid after that, there was one time that I saw it at the ocean, it was odd, but there used to be so many.
The grief was unmistakable. The mermaids had not simply been visitors in her life., they had been her refuge, her companions.
A reminder that happiness and freedom existed beyond the complexities of the human world.
A Life Marked by Loss
The client later saw herself falling in love after losing her place within the kingdom.
Although she experienced hardship and poverty, she also discovered a new freedom away from the burdens she had carried for so long.
Yet loss continued to follow her. The man she loved eventually passed away, leaving her alone once more. By the final years of her life, she lived simply beside the ocean.
The kingdom had faded into memory. The people she loved were gone. But one connection remained alive within her heart.
Waiting by the Sea
One of the most moving moments of the entire session came as she described her final years.
M: What are you doing?
C: Sometimes I am looking at the ocean and then sometimes I am in bed.
M: What are you remembering?
C: Looking at the ocean. Waiting for my friends to come back.
Not waiting for power…Not waiting for wealth..Not waiting for answers.
Waiting for the mermaids.
The companions who had brought her the greatest happiness she had ever known.
The Higher Self Explains
Following the regression, the Higher Self was invited forward to explain why this lifetime had been shown.
Reflecting on the life that had unfolded—a young woman who found solace among the mermaids while the world around her slowly unravelled through betrayal, loss, family wounds, and loneliness.
Why this life? Why now?
The Higher Self’s response came immediately.
HS: Somebody who I was meant to trust.
Exploring this further whether the betrayal that had occurred within the kingdom was connected to what the client was experiencing in her current life.
As the conversation turned to the scenes by the river and the time spent with the mermaids, the Higher Self revealed the deeper lesson.
HS: You can’t control.
M: You can’t control what?
HS: Life.
It was a message that seemed to weave through the entire lifetime.
She could not control what was happening within the kingdom, the choices of her father and the betrayal that followed. She could not control the disappearance of the mermaids she loved, nor could she control the many losses she experienced throughout her life.
When asked specifically why the peaceful scenes with the mermaids had been shown, the Higher Self paused before responding.
HS: Peace.
M: Tell me more?
HS: To release that life.
M: To release that life she will have peace?
HS: So much emotion still.
The Higher Self explained that the purpose of revisiting this lifetime was not simply to remember it, but to finally release the emotional burdens that had been carried forward.
Then came one of the most profound revelations of the session.
HS: I didn’t learn in that lifetime.
When asked what had remained unresolved, the Higher Self responded:
HS: It’s not your fault if your parent doesn’t parent you. You are not alone. Bad things happen but don’t have to affect you.
These messages reached far beyond the historical events of the lifetime itself.
They spoke directly to wounds that were still influencing the client’s present-day experiences.
The Wounds Carried Forward
As the conversation deepened, the Higher Self began tracing the emotional patterns that had followed her into this life.
The first was a feeling that had been present throughout much of the lifetime.
HS: She didn’t feel supported…Protected.
The young woman had grown up feeling that the very people who should have protected her were unable or unwilling to do so.
When asked whether these feelings were still active today, the answer was clear.
HS: Yes.
The Higher Self identified these wounds within the heart and lower energy centres, revealing how deeply they had become embedded.
The conversation then turned toward another familiar pattern.
A lifetime of holding back. A lifetime of not feeling heard.
HS: Yes, holding back because they won’t listen.
M: Has this affected her ability to speak her truth in her current life.
The Higher Self continued
HS: Holding back. It’s not received.
Those few words seemed to capture decades of experience.
Not being heard. Not being acknowledged.
Not feeling received by those around her.
The same theme appeared again when discussing respect.
Despite being the king’s daughter, she often felt dismissed and overlooked.
The Higher Self confirmed that this experience had become the root of her present-day struggles around feeling respected by others.
Another layer emerged around betrayal.
The betrayal that ultimately led to the destruction of everything she knew left a deep imprint upon her soul.
Yet the Higher Self described it in a way that revealed an even deeper wound.
HS: Yeah, betrayal of innocence. Taking advantage of a child.
The pain was not only about being betrayed.
It was about vulnerability. Trust. And the loss of innocence.
As more understanding came forward, another pattern surfaced.
The feeling that she always had to carry everything herself.
HS: She never have anyone. She’s the one.
The connection was easily recognised.
The pattern of being the supporter, the caretaker, the one others leaned on.
While rarely feeling supported herself.
The Higher Self confirmed it.
HS: Yeah.
Healing and Release
Throughout the remainder of the session, the Higher Self guided the release of emotional imprints connected to this lifetime and every other lifetime they had influenced.
The fear of not being supported and protected was traced to the heart, solar plexus, and sacral centres, where it had contributed to feelings of insecurity, vulnerability, and even physical symptoms within the body.
The fear of not being respected was identified within the throat, heart, and solar plexus, affecting both self-expression and self-worth.
The sadness of not being heard was held within the heart, solar plexus, and crown, carrying the emotional burden of feeling unseen, dismissed, and misunderstood.
The fear and sadness of being alone were stored within the heart, echoing across many lifetimes and reinforcing feelings of abandonment and separation.
The betrayal of trust and innocence was held within the gut and heart, carrying the imprint of vulnerability, broken trust, and experiences where she felt taken advantage of.
A deep sense of being unsafe was found throughout the body, extending from the lower energy centres upward, while the fear of losing loved ones was held within the heart and throat.
The fear of losing control was rooted within the solar plexus, reflecting a lifetime where so much had unfolded beyond her ability to influence or change.
As each layer was uncovered, the Higher Self released these emotional imprints not only from the lifetime of the young woman by the sea, but from every other lifetime and experience they had influenced, including the present life.
Again and again, the Higher Self returned to the same lesson:
HS: You can’t control life.
Not as a warning. Not as a punishment, but as an invitation to let go.
To stop carrying responsibility for events that were never hers to control.
To release the pain. To release the blame nd finally, to find peace.
A Curious Parallel
There is another story that echoes through this one.
Just one day before this session, another client experienced a lifetime as a young mermaid whose world was destroyed, leaving her searching for the humans she had lost. You can read that story here: The Mermaid Who Waited for the Humans.
The following day came this regression—the story of a human who spent her life searching for the mermaids she had lost.
Then came betrayal. A sudden takeover. The destruction of an entire world.
Families were separated. Communities scattered. Lives were lost.
The mermaid spent the remainder of her life grieving the humans and companions she could never find again.
The human spent the remainder of her life looking toward the sea, wondering what had become of the mermaids she loved.
Whether these stories are connected or simply share similar themes may never be known.
Yet the parallels are difficult to ignore.
One searched for the mermaids.
One searched for the humans.
Both experienced loss.
Both experienced separation.
Both carried a longing for reunion.
And neither ever stopped remembering.
When two sessions unfold on consecutive days, each revealing a story of separation between humans and mermaids from opposite perspectives, it becomes difficult not to wonder if they are somehow connected.
Whatever the truth may be, the echoes between them remain.
Waiting by the Sea
What remains most striking about this story is not the kingdom, the betrayal, or even the losses she endured.
It is the enduring connection between a young woman and the mermaids she called her friends.
Even after they disappeared, she never stopped looking.
Perhaps that is why the Higher Self brought this lifetime forward.
Not simply to remember. Not simply to heal. But to understand.
To understand that what happened was not her fault.
To understand that she was never truly alone.
And to understand that despite everything she experienced, her worth was never diminished.
The final message from the HS was to remind her that she was worthy and the majesty she was searching for was not outside of her; it was within her all along.
A beautiful reminder that beneath every wound, every loss, and every lifetime of searching, the soul remains whole.
And perhaps, somewhere beyond the horizon, a part of her still remembers the river.
The mermaids.
And the peace she found there.
